Ethical Horsemanship Association (EHA) is a community of people who want to get it right for themselves and their horse. EHA is the vision of Sue Palmer, Chartered Physiotherapist, equine behaviourist, trainer, and author of “Understanding Horse Performance: Brain, Pain or Training?” Sue noticed that people’s lack of confidence in their ability to correctly interpret issues as either behavioural, pain or training would often lead to an emotionally charged, expensive and time-consuming search for the right help.

The EHA was founded as an organisation where you could develop your own skills, share your knowledge, learn from the experiences of others, and follow signposts to trusted equestrian organisations. A place where we could share articles and research, where we could support people online in a contained environment. The internet has bought us so much information, it can be incredibly difficult to know where to look and what to believe. We believe in working with your horse, but without allowing your horse to walk all over you! If you are floundering in the mountains of information, and are unsure of where to turn, come to us.

Members of the EHA grow in confidence in the knowledge that they are doing their best through ongoing learning and development. Each month we offer information and ideas around a specific topic, and encourage discussion on our members only forum. The EHA team, consisting of Sue, Simon and Lizzie, is committed to providing a respectful, friendly and welcoming environment where it is accepted by all that there is never just one answer, and that what seems obvious or easy to one person might be difficult for another. Our goal is for horses throughout the world to be better understood, which will lead to reduced pain and suffering and improved standards of welfare. We invite you to join the EHA today and be a part of this change, to help make the world a better place for horses and their humans.

No matter what your level or expertise, we welcome you. We may be progressing at different speeds, or be at different points along the way, but if you are here, you are on our path, so come and join us…
